Hey guys I’m sorry for my lack of posts, I just needed some time to recharge and now I will definitely try to get back on track… again!
Lately I fell in love with the Heist Society series by Ally Carter. I’m not gonna write about each book separately but I will give a review for them as a whole.
Overall rating: 4/5.
You know how you always judge books by their covers? Well this is exactly why I didn’t wanna read this series but they still kinda made me curious. I mean… look at this cover:
You just can’t be attracted to a book that looks like this. And this is just the cover for the first book, I don’t think anyone needs any more details.
So because I can give second chances and a benefit of a doubt, I started reading the first one and could not stop. I love the characters and I love how mature they are. I forget they’re like 15-16 years old! Like how can a 15 year old rob a super safe and secured museum making up a really good plan in a super short time? Most of the 15 year olds play Fortnite so that was not very realistic.
I’m trying to keep this as much spoiler-free as I can but there’s also like a huge drama happening (of course) that might endanger Kat’s dad’s life (Kat is the main character). Of course she solves everything in the end with her squad and there’s a love story starting to sparkle between her and W. W. Hale, the rich and cool one.
In the second book Kat has been conned which was really dangerous because it involves the Cleopatra emerald, she basically steals it for the wrong people and she has to get it back from them but they know any tactic they could approach so it was pretty stressful for everyone (even myself). Long story short, there’s drama between Kat and Hale and a lot of suspense and them being smarter than everybody and we don’t know what Hale’s W. W. stand for!! I love how Kat is always trying to guess them.
Anyways, moving forward, Perfect Scoundrels (book 3) was SO GOOD!!!!This time it has to do with Hale’s family and there’s drama between Hale and Kat again because of course she wants to keep him out of it?! I didn’t like that part. It’s his family and he has all the right to know what’s going on, dear. Now they also have to rob the Henley (the museum from the first book which is even more secured) and a huge bank! I like that they make it a little bit more realistic involving the Interpol and all the travelling and talking about art just adds the perfect details. It involved a lot more complications and the most suspense so far. It has plot twists and a much more developed love story and now there’s family involved too! I think it had all the things I wanted like emotions, plot twists, love story, action and cool characters.
I’m sorry for the delay but it was thanksgiving so… it’s understandable.
Favorite book from your favorite series
I didn’t see this coming but since I told you about 2 of my favorite series I’m gonna choose one for each one of them.
My favorite book from the Gone series is Plague. I don’t think it gets crazier than that. I was wondering how much more can they take after all the craziness with the Nemesis and Darkness and everything you can think of starting from hunger to lack of light…literally. They also get a sickness over them and Michael dealt with everything so well!! It was definitely my favorite part.
The best book from the Lorien Legacies series is United as One. A relief. I was glad that they can have a moment of peace because trust me, you haven’t seen action until you’ve read this series. It gives you a special energy.
The moment you read the first book in the series you feel like Victoria Aveyard just got you used to awesome writing, crazy plots and unexpected types of characters and shocking events and LIFE LESSON: SHE NEVER DISAPPOINTS! So don’t talk shit about my dear Victoria because she wrote (and still writes, come on baby with the 4th book) one of the best series ever! And I should really consider buying the coloring book.
King’s Cage actually worried me because I haven’t seen any hope for Mare. I could not imagine any means to escape him. He’s a controlled psycho. He doesn’t really want to do all the stuff he does but he can’t help it and he just needs to be saved from himself. I know Cal’s plan is to help his brother and he actually expected Mare to follow but…oh man…I would’ve shocked Cal a little for that (I’m more of an every-man-for-himself kind of person).
Mare is one of the strongest book characters I’ve met. I admire her from every point of view and I don’t know what I would do if I would be in her place. She’s strong, capable, smart, mature and young. Too young to deal with all of this but look at her still kicking ass and that should be empowering for every girl. She does what she has to do and she is doing it well.
If you have read the first 2 books this is your sign to get this book and read it as soon as possible! You can’t possibly live with the action from the second book so I’m telling you you must read this madness.
I kinda wished this one had more of a typical ending (which isn’t something that happens often) but I just love Mare so I thought that she deserves so much better than to be left again tho’ I tried to understand Cal too.
In the end, everybody stands for what they believe.
So I’m not really able to post a lot because my laptop broke since october and I’m kinda struggling to write posts on my phone but I feel like I really have to. And the first post of the year goes to Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard.
I felt so good returning to this story! Especially because I loooveeed the first one so much, I just had to read this one as soon as possible. There are just so many things happening, you wouldn’t even believe it! Victoria knew how to hit the readers. You know I post spoiler-free reviews but I gotta tell you, if you haven’t started the second one, you really should. And nothing will prepare you for it.
By the way, I’m gonna share with you guys the trailer for the third book, The King’s Cage (Click on the title of the book).
If you wanna watch the show, I warn you: you will have to go on a binge because one episode of Dexter is never enough.
This first book was just like watching again the first season, with a few more details. I thought it’s awesome to be in this lovely sociopath’s mind. I always loved his character, thoughts and comebacks.
If you’re a fan of the show tho’, stick to the show. It’s better. But just for your curiosity and if you want to have more Dexter in your life, go for the book too. It has only 280 pages so you can finish it up pretty quick and continue watching the show.
“Another beautiful Miami day, mutilated corpses with a chance of afternoon showers”.
I’m not a huge fan of the science fiction genre but this book was pretty tempting and also it has been recommended to me by a friend…so I trusted him and started reading I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore.
No, I haven’t seen the movie nor watched the trailer ever, I like keeping it in my mind as I imagined it and I bet the book is better than the movie…cause it has been AWESOME. I’m really curious if there is some other book that has this much action, easy to follow plot and nice relationships between characters like this one.
From the moment you start reading it you just have to continue, and thank God there are more book from the series to come because I felt like I couldn’t get enough of it.
