Before starting a book of course I check out the ratings and I skim through the reviews and I’ve seen many of them that said this book is creepy and disturbing and any synonym you can think of.
Shirley Jackson’s We Have Always Lived In The Castle isn’t any of those. Don’t expect to be freaked out or something like that. You’ll just see a girl that lives with her sister and disabled uncle because the rest of the family died poisoned.
All the action revolves around this girl and her every day life. All of them are isolated in their big mansion and their society hates them and make fun of them, you probably get the idea.
There’s only one thing happening that “stands out” but it isn’t significant. It just takes place and then it fades away.
I wished they had supernatural powers or something like that.
